A typical day's responsibilities
Help customers find the perfect gift or plaything.
Gift wrapping - don’t worry, we’ll teach you how to wrap!
Receive and price products.
Restock inventory and display merchandise.
Process online orders.
Provide product and customer feedback to the buying team.
Work with team members to keep our store safe and clean for everyone to enjoy.

Store Manager
Learning Tree is hiring a Store Manager to run the store’s day-to-day operations, grow the team, and own the customer experience that makes us special.
Responsibilities include
- The staff—all aspects of staff management, from scheduling to daily tasks.
- The in-store customer experience is the single biggest reason customers come back.
- Maintaining the store so it is always clean, organized, and ready for customers.
- Presence — in-store five days a week.
What you'll do
Staff Management
- Build and publish weekly work schedules; maintain accurate time records and approve time-off requests.
- Run daily team huddles, regular one-on-one meetings, and monthly staff meetings.
- Hire, train, and coach sales associates and shift leads.
- Set clear expectations and conduct quarterly review meetings with staff.
- Assign major tasks such as opening and closing the store each day.
Customer Experience
- Create a store environment that is advantageous. Set a positive tone for every customer interaction.
- Coach associates on product knowledge, appropriate recommendations, and the art of giving the best gifts.
Store Operations
- Make the store run smoothly when you are present. Ensure the team is prepared to run smooth operations when you aren’t around.
- Uphold a safe, healthy, and secure environment for staff and customers.
- Maintain and organize operational and employee areas.
- Purchase operational supplies for gift wrapping, point-of-sale stations, cleaning, office and breakroom items, and signage materials.
- Open and close the store when scheduled.
Merchandising Magic
- Ensure every item is correctly priced and displayed.
- Maintain store layout, refresh displays, endcaps, and features.
- Manage the in-store signage, promotions, and seasonal resets (back-to-school, Halloween, holiday, summer, etc.).
Scheduling and Availability
- Hours: 30-40 per week.
- Extended hours during holidays and peak periods.
Benefits
- This position is eligible for overtime.
- This position is eligible for five or ten-day PTO.
- You will share in the store’s success with an end-of-year performance and sales bonus.
What you bring
- 1-3 years of leadership required.
- Store opening/closing or keyholder experience required.
- Ability to take ownership of and complete projects.
- Writing proficiency. Graphic design capability is a plus.
- Comfortable learning new computer processes.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Shift Managers, Floor
We are hiring floor managers who set high standards and ensure the store runs smoothly across shift changes.
Responsibilities include
- Act as the customer service lead
- Supervise the sales associates.
- Answer questions and resolve issues. Step in to assist other staff members when needed.
- Keep the team on task.
What you'll do
Customer Care
- Set the highest standard for customer interactions.
- Handle escalated customer issues.
Store Operations
- Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and customer-ready at all times.
- Assign daily tasks: register coverage, restocking, gift wrapping, cleaning, sales reports, etc.
- Ensure all products are stocked and available for purchase.
- Report on needed product refills and suggested products.
Scheduling and Availability
- At least one member of the floor management team is present whenever the store is open.

Hours: Typically 20-30 per week.
- Evenings required.
Benefits
- This position is eligible for overtime when working more than forty hours per week.
What you bring
- 1+ year of customer service experience preferred.
- Keyholder experience required.
- Strong people skills.
- Good judgment and the ability to make sound decisions quickly on the floor.
- Comfort with a POS system, basic spreadsheets, and email.
- A real interest in toys, books, and the families who shop with us.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Store Associate
Learning Tree’s Sales Associates are the heart of our business, who work as a team to ensure the sales floor runs smoothly.
Responsibilities include
- Greet customers as they come in and determine what they're looking for.
- Help customers find just the right toys, gifts, and books.
- Learn about our products and
- Handle tasks to ensure our store operations run smoothly.
- Opportunities to get involved with projects, such as planning our seasonal promotions, coordinating events, or designing window displays.
What you'll do
Customer Care
- Greet every customer. Develop and maintain relationships with our regulars.
- Listen to customer needs — the gift idea, the recipient, the budget, the occasion.
- Ensure that all customers leave happy and eager to return.
- Wrap gifts — we offer this service free of charge.
- Go above and beyond customer expectations.
Store Operations
- Restock merchandise.
- Display new products.
- Clean and organize the store.
- Receive, check, and price products.
Be part of the team
- Act in coordination with managers, the warehouse operations team, and other sales associates.
- Pitch in with the small things that keep the store running smoothly: straighten merchandise on the shelves, vacuum the rug, wipe fingerprints off the front door, etc.
- Contribute to the daily store report and operations log.
- Share with the team and the buyer what you're hearing from customers about what's selling, what isn't, and any requests.
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
Scheduling and Availability
- Hours: flexible.
- Full-time and part-time positions are available.
- Some evening and weekend shifts are required every month, especially in late November and December.
What you bring
- Positive manner and interest in helping customers.
- A willingness to learn about our merchandise.
- Comfort standing or walking for most of a shift, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends, especially during peak periods.
Nice to have
- Previous retail or customer-service experience.
- Familiarity with toys, books, or games.
- Background in education, child development, childcare, or working with families.
